Tech-savvy mobile phone enthusiasts now have more options than ever to help them stay connected on the go. In years past, people had to find a traditional computer station, laptop or internet cafe in order to go online, but the popularity of smart phones allows users to go online while they are traveling, at school or in the workplace.

Considerations when Purchasing an Internet-Enabled Smart Phone

If you are shopping for a smart phone, it’s important to make sure that you end up with a phone that includes the features that you’re most interested in. Although you can certainly expect popular smart phones such as Motorola Android phones to have internet capabilities, be sure to shop around and see if there are specific models that have extra features that may cater to your web browsing style even more. Examples may include a feature that fills in website forms for you automatically, or even an application for a social media website such as Facebook.

Wireless Hotspots vs. 3G Connectivity

Think about the sorts of locations from which you most often access the Internet. For example, if you tend to use the Internet in areas that have a lot of public wireless hotspots, you may not need a phone that has 3G capabilities. On the other hand, if you want to ensure that you can use the Internet whenever the desire strikes, it’s a good idea to choose a smart phone that has 3G capabilities as well as wireless hotspot connectivity. As you can see, there are as many ways to use a smart phone as your technology link!

Smartphones With the Best Internet Browsing

Laptops won’t be going away any time soon, but they have more or less been replaced as the primary tool of choice for Web surfing on the go. Their replacements? Smartphones. People rarely use their phones to simply talk; instead, they run a communications gamut of loading video, emailing and chatting on Skype, all done over the Internet. With the plethora of apps available, smartphones are nearly laptops themselves.

So which smartphones offer the best Internet browsing? While there are some stark differences between the capabilities of each smartphone, the answer lies in the user. Some users are concerned only with performance, with the desire to download and transfer files over the Web as quickly as possible and in large packages. Others value appearances such as clean images and un-grainy video. And lastly, there are those that prefer a browser that is functional and easy to use.

The latest smartphones claim to boast all of the characteristics described above, but in reality they vary in different degrees. The Apple iPhone features Apple’s own Safari Internet browser which has a high performance and great visuals, but may prove a little challenging for first time users. Unlike the app emphasis of the iPhone, the Nokia N97 gives users a nearly total browsing experience similar to using a regular computer as a page’s URL can simply be plugged in with the phone’s keyboard. Another great smartphone for browsing the Internet is the Blackberry Storm which features crisp graphics and easy usability with user settings for eliminating clutter.

Technology is constantly changing, and new innovations are rolling out that are changing the face of technology and electronics as we know it. For example, tablet functionality is now being seen in a wide variety of different forms, including touch screens that completely revolutionize the way that people use computers.

Touch-Friendly Computer Control

The benefits of a touch screen computer are numerous. Both laptop and desktop computers now feature this technology, which allows the user to control the computer either with a finger or a stylus pen directly on the screen. Not only does this make artistic pursuits on the computer easier by allowing the user to create using a pen instead of a mouse, but it also makes controlling the computer significantly easier in a lot of ways. Much of the computer’s operation becomes as simple as touching the screen, and so computers that feature tablet screens are quickly becoming the preferred way to use a computer.

Both desktop and computer laptops that feature touch screens are emulating the same functionality of tablet devices like the iPad and iPhone, Android phones and other similar devices. These devices simply feature the same functionality but on a smaller scale. As these tablets and touch screens become more sensitive and capable, the capabilities of the entire computer grow as well. What this means is that tablet screens and touch screen computers are the way of the future, and they are only going to improve in their capabilities as new developers experiment with this unique technology and everything that it has to offer.

What is a Mac Time Capsule?

Computer technology has certainly involved. One of the most exciting advances in technology is the Mac Time Capsule. The Mac Time Capsule works for all of the household MAC computers in the house.  It provides internet service for the household while backing up the computer at the same time.  It’s basically a wireless station with a built in hard drive. Every computer should be backed up regularly and most consumers want internet service, the time capsule provides both.

The time capsule has a USB port and can share a USB printer or hard drive. It can also copy its contents to a USB drive or hard drive allowing consumers to store their important information at a different site such as a safe deposit box.

There are some tips to make the time capsule run more efficiently. User need to be sure they are using the most up to date software.  Also users need to remember that computers do not back up when running on battery.  They need to be plugged in to back up. Never cover up a time capsule. It is a hard drive and generates a lot of heat. It has a fan to cool it but don’t block the sides or place books or tables on top of it. It is also recommended that time capsules be kept away from large metal objects. Large metal objects have been shown to cause interference with wireless networks.

Laptop or Desktop?

When computers came on the scene there was no choice, you bought a desktop and that was it.  Then laptops came on the scene and users had a choice. So, should you buy a laptop or a desktop?

Laptops are convenient to use. They are totally portable and users can pretty much do what they want, when they want. They are more convenient to use. They have caught up with desktops in terms of technology and in today’s computer age users can pretty much do anything on a laptop that they can do on a desk top. If the consumer wants to do their work at a coffee bar, café or even on their couch a laptop is a good option.

Desktops are the front end of technology. If something new comes out users can buy a desktop that has that particular program on it. It sometimes takes time for laptops to pick up the technology. Desktops do not rely on a battery to function. There is no danger of the battery draining and the user losing valuable information. Desktops have more expansion capabilitties than laptops as well. They are confining and not portable but if the user is doing most of their work at home or the office portability is probably not a concern.

Laptop or desktop? The consumer must decide what features are important to them and make their purchase!
